Product Description

Music Performed by The Vegetables From Mars.

Distributed release from Loungesaurus Rex Records.

The Vegetables from Mars existed on the early eighties L.A. Punk scene. Their 1981 bio states "Three alien beings with a message from space have descended upon Earth. These 'Vegetables from Mars' are relaying their message in the form of fast, hard-hitting-angular Rock 'n' Roll (New-Wave Punk, if you insist)." Get a taste of the early Eighties with "The Vegetables from Mars".

You might recognize one of the aliens: It's none other than Perseverance Records' own Eric Ekstrand, before he mellowed out!

It's Time - The Vegetables From Mars 1981 (02:45)
“The Vegetables From Mars” was a punk rock band in which I fronted and played guitar in 1981. Personnel was Eric X. Strand (Eric Ekstrand) on guitar, Lloud (Lloyd) Stout on bass and Mr. (Jack) Willoughby on drums. All three of us sang and wrote songs. We played the punk clubs in L.A. for about 8 months until Lloyd got hired by an established band, Jamie James and the Kingbees. I think I can speak for the other two that I have never had more fun as a musician than with “The Vegetables From Mars”. This video was digitized from a 34 year old VHS tape recorded at the Club 88 in West Los Angeles. The audio is not very good so I’ve included the lyrics to the song here. More “Vegetables From Mars” videos on the way. “It’s Time” You Say You Want Something New You Say You Want Something Different From All the Things You Used to Do You Want to Get Extreme Well, It’s a Good Thing I Came Your Way ‘Cause Baby, Baby That’s My Kind of Scene You Live Your Life on a Shelf You’re Much Too Busy Always Working Overtime You Never Be Yourself You Never Feel a Thing’ Well, I’m Here to Help You Live Out Your Fantasies And Realize Your Wildest Dreams ‘Cause It’s Time Time to Let Go It’s Time Time to Get Low It’s Time Time to Free Your Soul It’s Time Time to Rock and Roll I’ve Never Been Called a Saint I’ve Never Been Called a Gentleman Baby, Babe You Know I Ain’t I’m Just a Natural Man And I Got You in My Sights Tonight I’m Gonna Get You Baby That’s the Plan And It’s Time Time to Let Go It’s Time Time to Get Low It’s Time Time to Free Your Soul It’s Time Time to Rock and Roll
