After all, Ekstrand was a punk rocker back in the Eighties, and he imbues that energy into his Ensemble's big band swing sound. The songs are catchy, well produced and just a hoot to listen to. Despite its austere, aggressive title I think of this song as a sweet, tender love song; About a love so strong and enduring that not even a severe and dangerous mental illness can defeat it. The band really roars on this one with appropriately psychotic solos from Don Roberts on alto sax and Bob Schuster on guitar. The rhythm section of Tony Jones on drums and John Hatton on bass kick serious arse and the brass & sax sections wail throughout.
