Product Description

I took some creative liberties for this, my latest CD, that I didn’t take in my earlier releases. The opening track is my tribute to Jeff Beck. The nice sax solo you hear is played by Detroit musician Gary Cooper. Track 2 was inspired by a percussion track I had found on a CD of Middle Eastern music. We stuffed the guitars with paper towels to get a banjo sound. I got together with old friends and create two tracks (3 and 6) that were written in the early ’70s. It was fun to see what could be done with them 40 years later. This was written with a dear old friend, Andre Alexeeff. Track 5 was recorded by Spindlefish, a band I was part of in the mid-’90s. This recording was originally going to be on World Café and features a daring viola solo by Tom Talley, who also cowrote this piece. This track was intended for my last CD but it wasn’t finished in time. It’s unique in that the piano carries the entire tune. It also happens to be one of my better piano solos. Track 6 was intended for my last CD but it wasn’t finished in time. It’s unique in that the piano carries the entire tune. It also happens to be one of my better piano solos. It features a tasty horn arrangement and sax solo by Jimmy Street. Track 7: If Led Zeppelin and Yes wrote a song together... Track 8 was inspired by a drum track by Scott Preston. His playing reminded me of the drumming found on early fusion records, so I wrote an experimental track with a few sound effects I got out of the guitar and one effects pedal. Track 9 was my chance at writing a fun sports cue. Musicians who contributed to this disc: Scott Preston, Gary Cooper, EG Smith, Andre Alexeeff, Jimmy Street, Dave Kief, Steve Bankuti, Tom Talley & Benoit Grey. Mixed and Engineered by Roy Scoutz, Brian Kutscher, and Chas Ferry. The cover is a photo of a cardboard model in the snow that I had made. EG Smith supplied the font. Editing was done by my good friend Brian Kutscher. 1. Jeff Takes Miami 3:45
